Shakespeare County Raceway |
Just a quick few words about the Power Nationals at Shakespeare County Raceway. I got there at around 10:30 Sunday morning which was later than I intended. I enjoyed getting around and meeting everyone and chatting and I hung around expectantly at the Wright's pit waiting for the team to warm their splendid looking Top Fuel dragster. When the warm-up came it was most satisfying and I recorded the experience for your delictation.... however, I think i'll take up my TV producer Pal's advice and get the proper microphone for the job because it sounds..... well, not too brilliant. I then minced around the pits to see if I could find anything in the pits to point my nosey camera at.. and I found one or two 'victims'. Just as I was ready to take up position and picture all the eliminations and Darryl's super dragster....... It rained. It didn't stop. And that was it. Or was it? A big pat on the back to John Wright, though, for using up all the preparation work and putting a real show on in the pits with an extended warmup with at least four 'barps' which made a few people jump I can tell you! Absolutely terrific! In the face of the adversity of rain, it was nice that the Wrights gave us the very best we could have considering the conditions. I still enjoyed the day, and got to meet a load of chums and that warm-up made the journey well worth while. Thanks to Shakespeare County Raceway, LA Racing parts, eurodragster.com and all the relevant organising parties.
