Topnitro's favorite video clips: (Temp. Suspension announcement 17th July 2008)

I am sorry to announce that the video viewing facility at www.topnitro.co.uk has been suspended temporarily. When I first established the video facility at topnitro, I soon found that the video clips were so popular that I needed to move them away from the hosting facilities of topnitro.co.uk, as the performance of the site was being impacted. This created another cost burden which I have absorbed for several years, but I cannot allow it to continue at this time. The situation is that the video clips listed below are gradually being uploaded to www.youtube.com under my topnitro user name. When this extensive process has been completed, I will rebuild this page to reference all the clips on youtube directly. I apologise for any inconvenience, but I hope to have the task completed as soon as possible. Thank you for your consideration. Please click here to return to the site home page.

Here's a really smelly one! This is a nitro warm-up of Lex Joon's Top Fuel dragster when he was driving a Knut Söderqvist-owned MPM Top Fueler in 2004. Watch out for the brown cloud! This warmup is just before eliminations at Mantorp Park in Sweden. It is a VERY large clip (50Mb) and I recommend you click on the link below with your RIGHT button and click 'Save Target As" and save it on your local hard drive. Clip taken by Richard Stirling. Didn't do such a bad job, seeing as I was taking pictures with a stills camera at the same time....!  Click Here

Another 'smelly' and large (43mb) clip from the same Mantorp 2004 meeting. This time it's a warmup from the team of Jöran Persåker and the Nasty Toys dragster. You get a much clearer view here, of what goes on and what is involved in warming up of a Top Fueler. As you can hear, the team is pitted virtually right next to the start line which is certainly a recipe for a monster headache by the end of the weekend.  Car chief Gary Page orchestrates the warm-up procedure with key crew members Terry Giles and Mark Turner. Chris Andrews is seen 'hovering' as is car owner Knut Söderqvist and other team members Paul Turner and Nicky Hales. Crew Chief Alan Jackson used his mastery to tune all the components together into a Final-round appearance at the meeting, won by team-mate Micke Kagerad. This clip taken by Richard Stirling. Apologies for the 'please register' message but this was the only clip I used that tool to create. Please Click Here

Here's a super clip taken by and thanks to Steve Hiatt taken at the 2005 Main Event. Lex Joon was driving his ex-David Baca Top Fueler and Crew Chief Eddie Corr loaded it up a bit too much and it climbed the ring gear. Lex was lucky not to have the thing blow over - It made for a soft touch-down in the end with just steering damage. Click here

The first 300mph run outside of North America. Jim Read, running with tuning from Graham Cowin made this breakthrough pass in December 2000 with the eyes of the world watching. See how Steve Read's progress in the other lane is slowed with a 'pedal' mid track. Thanks to draglist.com Click here

The most frightening fire you ever did see. An outlaw Pro-Stock car 'burps' on the startline and that's enough to start a 'roarer' going. Thanks to Piedmont. Click here

Jay Upton surprised everyone with this absolutely fantastic run of 6.19 seconds at 219mph on his streamliner nitro-guzzling bike. Thanks to realperformance.com and congratulations to Jay. Click here

Don't you love Pro-Mods? This is a superb clip from Farmington Motorsports Park in the USA and in it we see the Pro-Mods running over the eighth mile. Great to watch. Thanks to Farmington. Click here

Chris Russell's tribute to his fallen brother Darrell who was fatally injured at Madison in 2004. I had the pleasure of meeting Darrell half a dozen times. He was gifted Top Fuel racer and a true gentleman. Thanks to Chris Russell Click here

Aussie driver Steve Stannick in his Super Modified tin top gives himself a huge fright and nearly collects his fellow competitor as he crosses lanes and clouts the wall really hard. Ends up being flipped and just ends up with a sore wallet. Thanks to Steve Stannick. Click Here

Here's a really fast run from an alcohol altered in the States. Nearly as quick as we run on nitro! Anon. Click Here

Do you like your Mustangs? Well look at this Mark III! What a wheelie! Thanks to horsepowerheaven.com Click Here

Ever burnt out your tyres on a public road? Naughty Naughty!! Here's an irresistible clip from Jon Steinar Kuaale and his pal with the big Pontiac GTO. Thanks to Jon. Click here

The first woman to break the 300mph barrier. Rachell Splatt burns out at her home track in Australia. Anon. Click Here

Andy Carter makes a superb burnout and runs a 4 second pass at the Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod in Easter 2004. Many thanks to Bob and Anni Valder and the much-missed www.feel-the-noise.com site Click here

Eddie Hill sets the Number 1 qualifier at the 1997 Autolite Nationals in Sonoma California, as shown on Eurosport. He runs 310mph, pulls the cutes and the car breaks up. Thanks again to Jon Steinar Kuaale. Click here.

Don't drive one-handed when you make a pass - even in a super street! This idiot finally realises it's not the way to drive..... with inverted consequences! Thanks to ebaumworld.com Click here

Surely the wobbliest burnout you ever did see! Steve Sitko captured Brent Harris hanging on for dear life in his '33 Willys Coupe at the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in 2004. Click here

A very interesting rearward view from the back of Ian Caseley's Road Zombie Jet dragster making a pass at Shakespeare County Raceway. Great to watch. Thanks to Ian Click here

Okay, (for the Nostalgic amongst us!) we've got something fantastic for you now! We hope that you have a really good broadband connection, because you're going to need it! We now have a very, very VERY special clip, indeed. What can this be? I hear you ask. How about The first Five second pass outside the United States? Still guessing? How about when a special visitor from the USA made his first trip to Santa Pod? Someone who's nickname may be something like Large Father? It was my first trip to the races as a youngster. Would you like to see the whole thing? See how many European Drag Icons you can spot! Remember to click with your RIGHT hand button and then click Save Target As" and save it to your local hard disk. THEN run it!  Very special thanks to the one and only Pete Crane. Click here for the video choice menu

Thanks to regular drag race fans Peter and Daniel Cetnik for this one. Back at the Main Event in 2005, Peter Wacker in his nitrous Pro-mod treated us all to what too much nitrous, too much clutch and and lot more traction than he was expecting! His normally sturdy wheelie bar then decided it had had quite enough and promptly threw the towel in, with the unexpected result that Peter ended up with all four wheels off the ground! Click here

Many thanks, again, to Peter and Daniel Cetnik for another exciting moment, this time from Andy Horne who, in his Granada Scorpio, had something 'let go' in the engine department. This promptly lubricated the rear slicks which then send Andy on his perilously wayward journey down the track - thankfully with nothing more needed at his safe stopping other than fresh underwear! Also - spot the car in the other lane - possibly Craig Gibbs - having a huge nitrous 'burp' just off the line. Click here

Frank Griffon decided to do a HUGE burnout in his Supercharged Hemi Pop and impressed myself and the other photographers by keeping those hides boiling WAY past the Christmas tree. But then it hooked up and it TURNED LEFT! Unbelievable! Thanks again to Peter and Daniel Cetnik. Click here

How about this, though? This is the ONLY video footage I have seen of Martin Hill and the run he made at the Easter Thunderball at over 336 mph! See how long he waits down at the start after the green is on while he winds this baby up like a clock spring! Incredible! Peter and Daniel Cetnik were in the right place at the right time to take the honours again. Click here

Peter and Daniel Cetnik have again been in touch with another video pearler! At the Shakespeare Nationals in June, they managed to capture the Top Fuel match race between Andy Carter and Darryl Bradford. Darryl, of course, was unfortunate enough to have serious problems again with firey, roasting results! Click Here

We've heard from  Peter and Daniel Cetnik again and they have kindly forwarded a couple of very interesting video clips. In the first we see a rearward view of ProMod hero Fast Freddie Fagerström making a hard pass at Santa Pod (4.7mb).    Have you ever wondered what it is like standing BEHIND the jet car in the barn? Wondered why John Price tells everybody to cover their eyes? Well, here's the Jet car warming  (and stinking!) up the barn and you wonder why you walk around smelling of diesel for weeks after! (4.6mb)

Many thanks to Larry Pfister at www.horsepowerheaven.com for posting the most fantastic video compilation made up from recent testing at the Las Vegas strip just a week ago.  Right click here and click "Save Target As" and save it to your desktop! Then run it as often as I have! It's a fantastic video!

Thanks to http://www.old51.com/  with their crazy 1951 Chevy Pro-Mod and Niclas Anderson handling the driving chores, I have re-hosted the video that they had on their web site as it is possibly the closest side by side race in a long time. They were up against Marc Meihuizen and Niclas won the round by an incredible 1.5mm! I've re-hosted the video clip here, because it seemed the donor site did not have enough bandwidth for the size of the video file. Look at the video by clicking here

Chris Schreier is one of the younger fans of www.topnitro.co.uk and I'm pleased to say that he has been in touch with a very interesting video clip indeed. Chris's Dad works at Shakespeare County Raceway and he was a lucky chappy to be up in race control  when Eric Teboul ran his superb rocket bike at the Bulldog Bash meeting this past summer. Eric pulled an incredible 5.75 second pass out of the hat - and keep with the video after the run as you get to see all the incremental times on the computer as well! The video file is pretty huge - its over 30 megabytes so I advise that you right-click on the link and left click Save As to a convenient location on your local hard drive. There's the usual lengthy build up to Eric's run at the start, but it's all worth while! Thanks Chris! Click here
